“She’s the Man” star Amanda Bynes has pleaded not guilty to her drunk driving case last April.
According to reports, the 26-year-old actress insists that she did not drive under the influence when the cops pulled her over on April. Amanda Bynes’ lawyer was not in court when her lawyer submitted the plea. She was charged with one count of misdemeanor DUI on Tuesday, and the D.A also sought enhancing her sentence because Amanda Bynes refused to take a blood test or breathalyzer to check her blood alcohol content.
If Bynes is convicted, together with her sentencing enhancement, she could get a minimum of 48 hours in prison, and a maximum of six months. A pretrial court for the actress’ drunk driving case has been set on the 18th of July.
It has been previously reported that the father of Amanda Bynes backed her up and told People magazine that his daughter does not drink. On the other hand, Amanda tweeted President Obama right after she was charged on Tuesday, writing, “@BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also dont hit and run. The end.”
Amanda Bynes rose to fame as a child star on the hit Nickelodeon TV variety show, “All That,” which later led to her own series, “The Amanda Show” from 1999-2002. The actress also starred in films like “Hairspray” and “Easy A,” working with actors such as Colin Firth, Emma Stone and Harry Connick Jr. In 2010, Bynes announced to the media that she is retiring from acting at the age of 24, tweeting that she no longer loved it.
